Four, Treaty 6 First Nations form alliance to build economic sovereignty for their communities
January 20, 2022 (Treaty No. 6 Territory) – Alexander First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Enoch Cree Nation, and Paul First Nation have officially formed the First Nation Capital Investment Partnership (FNCIP). First Nation Capital Investment Partnership is an alliance of the four First Nations created to pursue ownership in major infrastructure projects. The First Nation Capital Investment Partnership has selected Axxcelus Capital Advisory Partners as the exclusive financial advisor to source, evaluate, structure, and finance opportunities on behalf of the alliance. Along with Axxcelus, FNCIP has built a powerful team with a proven track record of success. The First Nation Capital Investment Partnership is seeking commercial partners who share Indigenous values.
This is a historic collaboration between these Nations to invest and acquire assets collectively. With shared values at the centre, the FNCIP team will work with government and industry in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland to invest in their respective communities for future generations.
“This is a historic moment of collaboration between our Nations. Our desire to build sustainable commercial partnerships isn’t about immediate financial benefit – it is about creating intergenerational wealth for the next seven generations . We have a greater responsibility than just building business. It is up to our people to ensure a healthy, vibrant future for our communities – one that values economics, responsible governance, and environmental stewardship equally.” - Treaty 6 Grand Chief and Chief of Alexander First Nation, George Arcand Jr.
“This partnership is the way of the future for First Nation communities. We are reclaiming community care and collective sovereignty, which will bring our communities back to the shared wealth we once had thousands of years ago. Entrepreneurship and collaboration is part of who we are. With qualified professionals on our team, our industry partners, and our intergenerational knowledge, we are stronger together.” - Chief Tony Alexis, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation
“Working responsibly with industry and building partnerships supports our long-term vision of becoming a self-sufficient Nation. Growing our economic opportunities will help strengthen the well-being of all of our People. By passing down the values of our ancestors and embracing new ideas, we can enhance the prosperity of our Nation for generations.” - Chief Billy Morin, Enoch Cree Nation
“ We look forward to working with Industry – by advancing sustainable and responsible development, while never losing sight of our Treaty rights. The alliance between our four Nations will ensure ownership over our own infrastructure projects and generate significant economic and social benefits for our People.” - Chief Arthur Rain, Paul First Nation
“Our efforts to build sustainability must be in partnership with Indigenous communities. Having Indigenous co-owners as true partners in major projects is an important aspect of this effort. We congratulate the communities in forming this partnership and are honored to represent them as they continue to build economic sovereignty for their Nations.” - Paul Poscente, CEO of Axxcelus Capital Advisory Partners.
